TOP places to visit and shoot in Budapest
Budapest Instagram Places – The No Bullshit Guide
So here we go!
- Fishermans Bastion – ???? Budapest, Szentháromság tér, 1014 Hungary
???? This place is absolutely amazing! It has around 6-8 different shoot locations within the area. We started here at 07:00 because we did not want any people in our shots. You can definitely notice that it starts to get busy around 08:00 as busses drop off groups of tourists. Furthermore, be aware that you have to climb quite a lot of stairs.
2. Chain Bridge – ???? Budapest, Széchenyi Lánchíd, 1051 Hungary
???? This beautiful chain bridge is definitely worth a visit. If you want a picture in the middle of the road, I would suggest coming here early as well. If you want a picture like mine, then it could be at any time. However, it is officially not allowed to climb the bridge(duh) so if you do be careful please x
3. Heroes Square – ???? Budapest, Hősök tere, 1146 Hungary
???? This is definitely an early bird if you want to shoot! If you want to get an empty square you have to be here around 06:00. We were here at 06:30 and it was already starting to get difficult to avoid the tourist.
4. Parliament – ???? Budapest, Kossuth Lajos tér 1-3, 1055 Hungary
???? We came here during the evening/ afternoon so the light was pretty bad. However, there are many different views of the parliament all around. We climbed(of course) on a black podium to be higher than the square so we could block out the people.
5. Budapest Sign 1( not very popular YET) – ???? Budapest, 1138 Margit-sziget, Hungary
???? Okay so we found this by mistake but it was such a good find! This is located on the beautiful Margitsziget island. We came here in the afternoon, its basically just queuing for a picture. The below was close as well.
6. Flower Power & Fountain Show – ???? Budapest, 1138 Margit-sziget, Hungary
???? So we came across this beautiful flower thing when we were searching for the sign. There are also gorgeous fountains with spectacular water shows on music ( I know cool right?!) So I would definitely visit this. You can also cycle around this island.
7. Liberty Bridge – ???? Liberty Bridge, Budapest, 1056 Hungary
???? We came here around 07:15. There is a tram line in the middle of the bridge. So you can actually take pictures in the middle all day as long as you mind the trams.
8. The famous Budapest Sign – ???? Budapest, Vigadó 2-es ponton, 1052 Hungary
???? Okay, so we got lost trying to find this one and ended up with the big sign. So I put the restaurant that is next to it as location above so you don’t have to struggle yourself. This doesn’t matter timings wise to shoot. You can sit on the sign or stand in front. I liked it more behind the sign, but be careful 🙂
9. Budapest Eye/ Ferris Wheel – ???? Budapest Erzsébet tér – Budapest Eye ( Ferris Wheel, 1051 Hungary
???? It was raining so hard when we came here. It is quite difficult to get a view without trees or buildings. The best picture spot would normally be at the fountain. Unfortunately, it was in construction when we visited. Moreover, I think that you can visit this any time during the day.
10. Szeechenyi Thermal Bath – ???? Budapest, Állatkerti krt. 9-11, 1146 Hungary
???? We went to the baths to relax 😀 If you do want a picture, I would try to go on a weekday super early. Another tip is to bring your own flipflops and bath towel, otherwise, they charge you a lot to buy these. We had 1 changing room that locks, so we shared this instead of lockers.
11. Károlyi Kastély – Wedding Venue – ???? Fehérvárcsurgó, Petőfi Sándor u. 2, 8052 Hungary
???? I had a wedding a bit outside of Budapest from one of my best friends Suzie❤ It was a beautiful venue with lots of different shoot locations. However, we were too tired to shoot here as well and we just wanted to enjoy the wedding. We spotted a lot of really big sunflower fields when we drove to this location by bus.
Dinner Spot – Sir Lancelot Medieval Restaurant – ???? Budapest, Podmaniczky u. 14, 1065 Hongarije
We went for dinner at this amazing place! They serve Medieval dishes and plates. Everything is perfect in line with the Medieval theme. They also do live performances in between the tables. The atmosphere was really good and the food was amazing. Aba and I shared a plate that contained 5 different dishes.
Airbnb – ???? Dózsa György út 140
???? We had a beautiful Airbnb apartment which was also located centrally and only 2 min to the bus stop. It was brand new and so gorgeous. I would definitely recommend renting an Airbnb as its often cheaper and could lead to nice home shoots as well. Unfortuenly, this host will stop with Airbnb soon, therefore I am unable to share the contact details. x
???? This is a tricky one! At the airport, you need a special airport shuttle ticket, this will bring you directly to the city centre. Okay, so we bought 10x normal bus tickets at the airport as well. The first time we got on the bus, we saw that everyone looked at us while we inserted the tickets. Soon we noticed that nobody uses tickets. So we started to not use our tickets as well. We thought maybe everyone is just not doing it, maybe it’s free? So we never paid for more tickets and had some left.
Long story short, I asked around on our last day:
-They check Metro very strictly. Up to 3 times! So never throw away your tickets for this. And they check the bus sometimes, so I guess that we were super lucky! The residents have a card, so they never use tickets.
- Visit a Thermal Bath
- Buy Bus tickets per 10x
- Visit all markets
- Try Hungarian Wine
- Drink Tap Water(in the city)
- Think public transport is free and risk a fine
- Take dodgy cabs
- Go to money exchange offices
- Walk alone at night
I went on this trip with Aba AKA @threadslikethese .
